Node.js Deployment Planning

A delivery pipeline should install from an intended lockfile, run meaningful checks and produce a reviewable artifact. Passing a syntax check is only one gate.

How it works

The fixture below validates an original deployment-readiness record instead of executing cloud commands. Its fields distinguish automated tests from a separately reviewed operational plan. Actual CI providers, container images, credentials, network routes and rollback behaviour must be checked in the chosen deployment environment. The workshop package project executes its local scripts, while this lesson explains why that evidence alone is not a completed production release.

Run the code

Run this example locally with Node.js. The exact sources are reviewed on Node 22.15.1 and Node 24.22.1 unless a specialised lab states otherwise. Save the complete source as delivery-plan.mjs in a separate empty exercises folder and run node delivery-plan.mjs. There is no Node.js browser runner on Bhylu; the plain JavaScript playground does not provide these filesystem, server or process APIs.

Download the complete source. Ordinary Node scripts need no Apache, PHP or MySQL service. File examples own their temporary folders; network fixtures use loopback and available temporary ports.

Example

delivery-plan.mjs

export function readyForReview(evidence) {
  return (
    evidence.testsPassed === true &&
    evidence.configReviewed === true &&
    evidence.rollbackPlan === true
  );
}
console.log(
  readyForReview({ testsPassed: true, configReviewed: true, rollbackPlan: false }),
);
console.log(
  readyForReview({ testsPassed: true, configReviewed: true, rollbackPlan: true }),
);

Expected result

false
true

The record blocks a review-ready state when a rollback plan is missing. It is an illustrative gate over supplied evidence, not a validator that independently proves those facts. Operators must supply honest evidence from their actual environment.

Use the Node.js API reference for the precise version contract.
