Background Shorthand — Code Challenge
Put write a background shorthand into practice. Rebuild the example from its HTML, then compare your result with the CSS solution. Change the content and the viewport before calling it finished.
How it works
- The background shorthand combines image, position, size, repeat, and other background settings. A slash separates position from size.
- Colour must preserve readable text and visible component boundaries. Test the actual foreground against the background behind it.
- Use a consistent palette and change the example value to see which part of the card responds.
Your task
Use the HTML below to explore this rule: The background shorthand combines image, position, size, repeat, and other background settings. A slash separates position from size. Write your own CSS before opening the solution. Then replace the heading with a longer one and verify that the content is still readable.
Review the CSS solution
.card { background: linear-gradient(120deg, #e5eee8, #fff1d6) center / cover no-repeat; }
A solution to compare
The HTML supplies the content; the CSS below styles it. Open both together in the playground, then change the lesson rules at the end of the stylesheet.
