Min / Max — Code Challenge
Put set flexible size limits into practice. Rebuild the example from its HTML, then compare your result with the CSS solution. Change the content and the viewport before calling it finished.
How it works
- Minimum and maximum sizes establish limits around a preferred size. A full-width card with a maximum remains comfortable on both narrow and wide screens.
- A box includes content, padding, border, and margin. Use the developer-tools box diagram to see which layer creates a gap.
- Prefer logical properties such as padding-inline when a layout should adapt to different writing directions.
Your task
Use the HTML below to explore this rule: Minimum and maximum sizes establish limits around a preferred size. A full-width card with a maximum remains comfortable on both narrow and wide screens. Write your own CSS before opening the solution. Then replace the heading with a longer one and verify that the content is still readable.
Review the CSS solution
.card { width: 100%; max-width: 34rem; min-height: 12rem; box-sizing: border-box; }
A solution to compare
The HTML supplies the content; the CSS below styles it. Open both together in the playground, then change the lesson rules at the end of the stylesheet.
