AngularJS Testing

Test a controller or service through its real registered dependencies, then check its actual view in a browser. A hand-written imitation of AngularJS cannot prove the framework binding contract works.

How it works

The local preview counter has a capacity of two. Its operation preserves that limit even when the button is pressed again. The course review uses the pinned angular-mocks backend for controlled HTTP and injector tests, while real browser checks cover the complete documents. Keep test libraries out of the normal example page; mocks are a review dependency, not a production request service.

Run the code

AngularJS 1.8.3 is a legacy framework whose official support ended in January 2022. These examples teach maintenance, not a recommendation for a new application. They need a separate local browser page; Bhylu has no AngularJS playground.

In an empty folder save the HTML below as testing.html and the server as lab-server.mjs. Make a vendor folder and save the four pinned libraries there, retaining their MIT notices. With Node 22 or later run node lab-server.mjs testing.html, then open http://127.0.0.1:8136/. Stop that lab before running a different lesson. The server supplies fixed read-only HTTP fixtures; no data is saved and it does not connect to SQL. No PHP, Apache or MySQL configuration changes are needed.

Focus on the bindings and controller

This excerpt leaves out the document shell, styles and library files. Use the complete download to run it.

Expected result

0 previews

The browser reaches one, two and then remains at two. A service-level test can exercise the same rule without mounting every view, while the browser proves that the actual event directive and output binding connect it correctly. Add refused inputs and cleanup checks when the component’s responsibility grows.
