HTML YouTube
A hosted video service can supply its own player through an iframe. The embedding page still needs a clear label, a useful alternative, and an understanding of the external request.
How it works
- Use the provider’s documented embed URL rather than a normal watch-page URL. Only embed content you are entitled to use.
- Give the iframe a meaningful title and a responsive size. Lazy loading can defer off-screen embeds, but loading still creates a third-party connection.
- Avoid autoplay by default and provide a direct link or transcript. A third-party player should not be required to read essential instructions.
A practical example
<!-- Replace VIDEO_ID with the ID of a video you may embed. -->
<iframe src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/VIDEO_ID"
title="Workshop introduction video"
width="640" height="360" loading="lazy"
allow="fullscreen" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin"></iframe>
<p>Provide a separate text summary or transcript here.</p>
VIDEO_ID is a deliberate replacement marker, not a working video. The privacy-enhanced hostname does not mean that embedding never contacts a third party.
