Python Compiler

The online Python tool runs your code in a browser-based Python interpreter. You can change examples and choose Run without installing Python on your PC.

Understand the idea

The first run downloads the runtime. Code is not executed merely because a lesson loads it. The editor starts a fresh runtime environment for a run; personal files, database servers, and arbitrary network services are not provided. Python is often described as interpreted, although its implementation also compiles source to bytecode internally.

Where to try it

Open this example with Try in playground. The code loads as editable text and does not run until you select Run. The first run downloads Python. Each run starts fresh; temporary files created by a script are not files on your PC.

A worked example

Python

import sys
print("Python is running")
print(sys.version_info.major)

Read the result

The message confirms execution, and the reported major version is 3.

Try one change

Load an example, edit its message, and run it explicitly. Then open the editor directly and check that it starts empty.
