Requests Module
Requests provides a convenient synchronous HTTP client for local Python applications. A network request needs timeouts, error handling, and a clear trust boundary.
Understand the idea
Install requests in your virtual environment. This script takes its URL from DEMO_URL and requires a known endpoint you control that returns JSON. Check the status before parsing the body. A timeout bounds connect and read waits, but a retry policy, response size limit, and destination allowlist are separate application decisions.
Where to try it
Run locally with the required HTTP client package and a known test endpoint. The online runner does not provide ordinary Python HTTP networking. Do not supply a production credential or private server address to a public playground.
A worked example
import os
import requests
response = requests.get(os.environ["DEMO_URL"], timeout=(3, 10))
response.raise_for_status()
payload = response.json()
print(type(payload).__name__)
Read the result
A successful configured JSON endpoint prints the parsed container or value type. Errors are not silently treated as successful empty data.
Try one change
Use a local test endpoint and exercise both a valid JSON response and an error status.
